Solar powered Plug and Play solar powered vaccine fridge
In order to be successful in the fight against the current COVID-19 pandemic, > 75% of the world’s population has to be vaccinated. To put this in perspective, 75% of immunisation is a higher rate compared to the achievement in some developing countries for common diseases like measles or polio!
A big operational and infrastructural challenge, in order to achieve this goal, COVID-19 vaccines have to be transported and stored in a certain temperature-controlled environment (when vaccines are not stored correctly, they stop working effectively. Their potency is affected when they are stored outside of the correct temperature range). Many COVID-19 vaccines, such as AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, Johnson & Johnson or Sinovac, require a temperature-controlled environment of 2 – 8°C. That is why having this cold storage capacity available will be crucial in aiding governments’ COVID-19 vaccine distribution efforts.
But many countries still lack of adequate cold storage infrastructure to properly store their COVID-19 vaccines at the required temperatures. According to AP news, vaccine (cold) storage issues could leave 3 billion people without access to the much-needed vaccinations. The POWERING HEALTH CARE initiative by Sustainable Energy for All claims that “in parts of Sub-Saharan Africa, for example, it is estimated that only 28% of health facilities have access to reliable electricity”.
Having this cold storage capacity available will be crucial in governments’ COVID-19 vaccine distribution efforts. For this reason, Solarkiosk Solutions GmbH has launched its latest products, the solar powered vaccination storage fridges.
We have created two kit solution:
